How we respond to a crisis defines who we are

The war rages in Ukraine, and wars are always brutal. As a general rule, those who start wars aren’t the ones who fight and die in them. That task is left for others. Wars all contain elements of greed, power, and self-defense. The unprovoked invasion of Ukraine seems to contain the two end members of this spectrum.

This current conflict is particularly brutal because of how the war is being waged. Fighting armed, trained opponents is difficult and risky. Attacking unarmed women and children is a cowardly but safer way for aggressors to proceed. Hospitals have been under heavy attack by Russian forces during this war. Not only are civilian targets densely packed into these facilities, but many are too sick or injured to evacuate.

How we as individuals respond to these attacks is important, and our responses are reflections of our integrity or lack thereof.

What are people saying about Putin and the Russian invasion? How are they responding to the brutality unfolding on the ground in Ukraine? What are their views on the killing of unarmed men, women, and children in cold blood?
