Thanks for reading. The average I use is just the raw calculation of a 10 degree C drop in temperature over 60 million years. The temperature range was found at https://geocraft.com/WVFossils/Carboniferous_climate.html The change rates I quote are on only a smoothed average of what happened. Clearly there were intervals of higher and lower rates of change throughout the period.
